Hyperwrite AI Review: What Makes It Stand Out?

In our detailed review of HyperWrite AI, we dive deep to see if it really does what it says. This tool introduces itself as a personal AI writing assistant, aiming to speed up how you create content and sharpen your writing skills. Considering the crowd of AI helpers out there, we’re keen to see what makes HyperWrite pop.

Let’s break down what HyperWrite brings to the table, from its standout features and cost to its strengths and weaknesses. We’ll also compare it to rivals like Jasper AI and ChatGPT to figure out who would benefit most from HyperWrite.

HyperWriteAI Quick Review

HyperWrite AI relies on OpenAI’s GPT models, including GPT-3.5 and GPT-4, to fuel its capabilities. It boasts special features such as the ability to match your writing style, a personal assistant, and a TypeAhead function to enhance your efficiency.

Additionally, it’s priced reasonably. Yet, it doesn’t quite match up in terms of the quality of its outputs, the range of templates it offers, how easy it is to use, and its adaptability when stacked against similar AI tools. Also, its interface and overall design could be smoother. For those reasons, we find Jasper AI to be a better option than HyperWrite.

What is HyperWrite AI?

Hyperwrite

HyperWrite AI calls itself your “personal AI writing assistant,” aiming to make crafting content quicker and easier with AI’s help.

This tool first came out in 2020, starting as a tool for writing emails but quickly expanded to cover all sorts of writing jobs.

With its wide array of tools and features, pinpointing a specific group of users HyperWrite AI is best for can be tricky. It offers tools that are perfect for people just starting with AI, yet it also packs in features that will appeal to more seasoned AI users.

Moreover, if you can’t find a tool that fits exactly what you’re looking for (which would surprise us!), you have the option to create a tailor-made tool just for your needs, making sure it’s a perfect match for what you want to do.

How Does HyperWrite Work?

HyperWrite works much like other AI writing tools out there.

Its core, driven by GPT technology, has gone through billions of pages of writing, learning not just to grasp human writing but also to generate text that sounds like it was written by a human, all based on the instructions it receives.

Additionally, this AI tool offers specialized features for generating certain types of content, such as updates for LinkedIn, subject lines for emails, or openings for blog posts. All that’s required from you is to specify the subject and the tone you’re aiming for, and the AI will handle the content creation.

Key Features

Let’s take a closer look at HyperWrite AI and explore what it brings to the table.

Hyperwrite document editor

Hyperwrite document editor

The document editor in HyperWrite mimics the flexibility of Google Docs, offering more freedom than the structured AI templates that require filling in predefined fields. Here’s a breakdown of what we found about HyperWrite’s long-form editor:

  • Rich Context Input: HyperWrite enables you to give detailed instructions on the document’s topic, preventing the AI from straying off course. You can set the main subject, important facts, sentence length, type of document, and more.
  • Integrated Tools: Direct access to Autowrite, AI chat, and AI templates is available without needing to exit your document.
  • Hideable Sidebar: The right-side toolbar with various tools and templates can be hidden, offering a clean workspace for when you’re deeply focused and don’t need AI help.
  • Style Learning: HyperWrite can learn to match your writing style by analyzing your text, helping keep your brand’s voice consistent.
  • Predictive Text: With TypeAhead, the AI suggests words and phrases as you type, enhancing your writing speed.
  • Complex Interface: Navigating the editor can be tricky, especially for setting document context, requiring a dive into the “customize document settings” menu to adjust AI output length, which can be cumbersome.
  • Slower Response Times: Generating text with HyperWrite may take a few seconds per sentence, potentially slowing down your workflow.
  • No Document History: Lacking a version history feature means there’s no easy way to undo mistakes or revert to previous versions of a document.

HyperWrite packs a variety of tools that are becoming standard for AI writing tools, including paraphrasing, summarizing, blog writing, and creating content for social media, emails, and websites. It also offers unique templates like grocery list and greeting card creators, technical translators, and more.

Additional HyperWrite Tools:

  1. AutoWrite: Assists in writing or creating content as needed.
  2. Explain Like I’m 5: Breaks down complex subjects into simple explanations.
  3. Email Responder: Crafts well-thought-out replies to emails.
  4. Magic Editor: Refines documents or messages for better clarity and style.
  5. AI Speech Writer: Helps create speeches from outlines or prompts.
  6. Universal Translator: Translates text between languages with accuracy.
  7. Proposal Generator: Creates detailed business proposals from basic inputs.
  8. Discussion Board Responder: Generates responses for online discussions.
  9. Flexible Link Assistant: Summarizes information from provided links to fulfill commands.

These represent just a fraction of HyperWrite’s capabilities, which also include options for custom tool creation. You can specify inputs, desired outputs, and examples for your AI tool, even sharing it with the community for broader use.

Once you add the extension from the Chrome Web Store, you’ll unlock the TypeAhead feature across any editor or app you’re using. It also brings a command bar into play, letting you easily shorten, expand, or alter the tone of your text. A clickable HyperWrite icon will appear in the top right of your screen, giving you quick access to all its tools, chat, and Autowrite capabilities.

Getting started is as simple as installing the HyperWrite extension from the Chrome Web Store. It blends effortlessly with your browser, boosting your writing on various websites.

HyperWrite’s Flexible AutoWrite feature stands out as a multi-purpose writing assistant. Whether you’re writing a compelling email, outlining a blog post, coming up with story ideas, or crafting engaging social media captions, this tool has you covered. Leveraging cutting-edge AI, like GPT-4 and ChatGPT, it takes your prompts and delivers content that’s both relevant and well-crafted, making it an excellent resource for both personal and professional tasks.

Unique features in HyperWrite

Features in HyperWrite

HyperWrite stands out with some features you might not find in every AI writing tool:

  • TypeAhead Feature: This standout tool predicts what you’re about to type, offering context-aware suggestions that can speed up your writing and spark new ideas.
  • HyperChat: Similar to ChatGPT or Jasper Chat, HyperChat lets you interact with AI through a chat interface. You can use it alone or within the document editor for a seamless experience.
  • Personalized Learning: HyperWrite customizes its responses based on your writing style and preferences. Over time, it gets better at learning your style, making the assistance it offers feel more tailored to you.
  • Community Templates: Even though HyperWrite might not have as many built-in templates as some tools, it offers unique access to templates created by its user community. You have the freedom to use these community-driven templates or even craft your own to suit your specific needs.
  • HyperWrite Personal Assistant: This AI assistant aims to simplify tasks like managing emails, doing research, booking flights, and ordering food, though it’s still early in development. This aim to automate daily tasks suggests exciting possibilities for boosting productivity in the future.
  • Personal Database: A key feature where you can store your writing preferences, allowing the AI to learn your style from external documents you provide as references.
  • Built-in Plagiarism Checker: From the document editor, you can access this tool to ensure your content remains original, a crucial feature for those working with freelance content writers.

Despite these innovations, HyperWrite has areas where it doesn’t quite match up to competitors like Jasper AI and Copy AI:

  • Output Quality: Jasper AI’s outputs tend to be of higher quality, likely due to more refined use of the OpenAI API.
  • No Pre-set Brand Tones: HyperWrite requires adding reference texts for each document, a process more cumbersome than Jasper’s one-click brand tone switch.
  • No Instant Campaigns: A feature found in Jasper AI that allows for quick creation of comprehensive brand campaigns is missing in HyperWrite.
  • Fewer Built-in Templates: Compared to leading AI writers, HyperWrite offers fewer templates, and they vary widely in focus, with not all aimed at marketing or business needs.
  • Complicated User Interface: The interface feels less intuitive and harder to navigate than those of other AI writing tools.
  • No SEO Integrations: Unlike some competitors, HyperWrite lacks SEO-focused features and doesn’t integrate directly with SEO tools.

HyperWrite Pros & Cons

As with all tools, HyperWrite AI is not for everyone. Here’s a list of pros and cons after spending some time in the platform:

  • Efficiency boost: TypeHead is quite limited, but helpful. It auto-suggests multiple sentences to continue writing and personalized the suggestions depending on the contest;
  • Unique LLM: most AI tools are simply OpenAI wrappers, meaning you can get the same output from ChatGPT if you prompt it well. HyperWrite choose a different approach and built its own tech stack, most likely including Cohere’s LLM as the foundational model;
  • Easy UI & Setup: it’s very easy to get started with HyperWrite AI, even if you’re a complete beginner in the world of AI tools;
  • Personal Assistant: the personal assistant can literally book flights or order pizzas for you – it’s an unmatched flexibility.
  • Create your custom tools: anyone can generate quick AIs for their personal needs, similar to Custom GPTs in OpenAI or MindStudio. Custom bots in HyperWrite can browse the web.
  • Slower output: HyperWrite can take a while to generate, which can impact the usefulness of TypeHead as well. For example, we were frequently waiting for TypeHead to generate new sentences. If your typing speed is above 90WPM, you might need to slow down;
  • English first: HyperWrite is currently only optimized for the English language;
  • Not the cheapest out there: ChatGPT, Claude Pro, and even Jasper AI are significantly cheaper than HyperWrite when used as an AI writing tool. If you look at it as a personal assistant, then the cost might be worth it.

HyperWrite compared to alternatives

Let’s see how HyperWrite AI measures up against its competition in the AI writing assistant space.

Jasper AI

Jasper AI, a trailblazer among AI writing assistants, continues to impress with its extensive content capabilities. It utilizes various models, such as GPT-4 Turbo and Claude 2, along with its own custom-trained large language models tailored for specific tasks. In 2023, Jasper shifted its focus towards agencies, enhancing features for that segment, especially after ChatGPT’s introduction. It shines in creating long-form content and offers seamless integration with SEO tools like SurferSEO. Jasper supports marketing teams with tools for maintaining a brand’s voice, generating images, and automating content. Despite its strengths, Jasper doesn’t have a personal assistant or custom AI features and is generally more expensive, starting at $49/month, compared to HyperWrite AI.

Copy AI

Copy AI directly competes with Jasper, offering a generous free plan suitable for individual users. It features a chat interface for content creation, numerous marketing templates, and an automation workflow builder for generating comprehensive plans, such as a full social media strategy in one session. Copy AI includes unique tools like “Growth ideas” and “Rewrite with keywords” similar to HyperWrite’s offerings. With competitive pricing at $49 for unlimited words and workflow usage and integration capabilities through Zapier, Copy AI remains attractive, especially as it solely relies on GPT models.

Rytr

As the most budget-friendly option, Rytr presents a simple, effective AI writing solution that has been on the market for a few years. Initially available with a lifetime subscription offer on platforms like AppSumo, Rytr now starts at $9/month for 100k characters. While it doesn’t feature the latest innovations or models, Rytr delivers all the necessary functions of an AI writer at a significantly lower cost. For those needing basic AI writing help without extra features like custom AIs or personal assistants, Rytr could be the ideal choice.

SurferSEO

For SEO-focused writing, tools like WriteSonic, SurferSEO, Outranking, and SEOWriting offer specialized assistance for crafting content that ranks well on Google, emphasizing optimal on-page SEO optimization. SurferSEO, although the priciest at $29 per article, uses extensive data analysis, including scraping content from top-ranking pages for a given keyword, powered by GPT-4 32k. This approach ensures high-quality outputs but comes at a significant cost, which may be justified for ambitious SEO projects despite the need for human refinement.

In comparison, HyperWrite AI might not excel in the same areas as its competitors, especially in long-form content creation and SEO integration. However, its unique features like a personal assistant, community templates, and personal learning database offer distinct advantages for users looking for personalized AI writing assistance.

The Bottom Line

HyperWrite AI offers a unique mix of AI writing assistance, combining innovative features like TypeAhead and personalized learning with user-generated templates and a versatile personal assistant. Despite its competition, it shines with its adaptability and tools designed to enhance writing productivity.

Based on my experience, HyperWrite AI is worth trying, especially for those new to AI writing tools. Its free Starter plan is a great way to experience its capabilities. While it may have room for improvement, particularly in speed and interface design, HyperWrite AI provides valuable support for a variety of writing tasks, making it a noteworthy option in the AI writing space.
